We Need Your Help

13:34

What does Christmas mean to you? A question we're not often always asked.

What does Christmas really mean to you? Does it mean presents, Christmas dinner and opening the doors on your advent calendar? Does it mean the opportunity to see friends and family and spend time with loved ones? To me, and a lot of you reading this, I'm sure it's all of the above. But for the young people living in hostels in our local area, Christmas is none of the above. In fact, it's quite the opposite.

A time that is supposed to be a joyous occasion filled with love and happiness is a completely different story for the young people calling a hostel their home over Christmas.

With no family to share this special season with, the hostels in our local area will be experiencing a different Christmas to what you and I are privileged enough to enjoy.

Whilst you're tucking into your freshly cooked Christmas dinner surrounded by presents and loved ones, the young people living in hostels can only dream of having a Christmas day like you will be lucky enough to cherish.

So what can you do to help?

"The Shack" in Muscliff and the place where us RCA girls call home every Thursday, is asking for YOUR help to make a difference to the young people who's Christmas will be spent in a hostel here in Dorset.

We're not asking for much, just simply a donation of any of the following items in order to create gift bags for all the young people affected by homelessness:

  • Bubble Bath
  • Toothpaste
  • Toothbrush
  • Deodorant
  • Shampoo
  • Conditioner
  • Shower Gel
  • Sponge/Flannel
  • Chocolate
  • Sweets
  • Socks
  • Hat
  • Gloves
  • Scarf
Spare a thought to those living in hostels over the festive period and help the members of the Muscliff community and the RCA girls by doing your good deed and making somebody's Christmas that little bit special.

Items can be dropped into Muscliff Park Youth Centre between 9-5 Monday - Friday or Lansdowne Church on Sunday's.

For any more information do not hesitate to contact The Shack on 01202 546213 or head on over to their Facebook Page for more information.

Any donations made, no matter how great or small is more than appreciated.

Thank you.
